There is one important discovery that I want to share here. For you to determine the sex of baby it is very likely that the father will play a very vital role. The genes that the father carries with him will influence the gender of his upcoming newly born baby.

There is a new research that I read suggests that there is a fatherhood gene that a man inherits from his parents. If you monitor closely, a father who has many brothers will likely produce more sons compare to daughters, while a man with many sisters will likely produce more daughters compare to sons.

 This theory was confirmed by Newcastle University in the UK, when they looked at more than 900 family trees that included from 556,000 Americans and Europeans over the past four centuries.

 Lead author Dr Corry Gelatly told the BBC that over time the effect ends up evening out the mix of males and females in the population.

 ”If there are too many males … females will more easily find a mate, so men who have more daughters will pass on more of their genes, causing more females to be born in later generations,” he said.

The news may even lead some to wonder whether a man who is already used to having sisters may have an advantage in parenting skills if he fathers daughters – and vice versa.

In my personal opinion, as we all know the father carries the sperm chromosomes, X and Y. In male sperm there are both X and Y chromosomes. If the X sperm reaches and fertilizes the woman’s egg first, very likely the baby will be a girl. On the other hand, if Y sperm reaches and fertilizes the egg first, the baby will be likely a boy. Even though the father provides the sperm, but he CANNOT determine the sex of the baby. Obviously we have to look at many other factors.

Perhaps, the result of the research will make us think and look deeper. In my own family, I have more sisters than brothers but now I have five sons and only one daughter . Is it a coincidence or they have to extend their research to a respondent like me?
